Major events since 2020
Tech-Athon 2023
Published: 22/03/2023
Open call for team members for the marathon of work on practical solutions and demonstrators in the areas of biomedical engineering, photonic technologies, cybersecurity and data analysis, energy conversion and storage.
An innovative approach to research on the interactions between skin cells
Published: 30/08/2022
Mast cells are among the most important cells of the immunological system. They participate in many processes in our bodies, both normal and pathological ones. Although their interactions with other cells are frequently under research, very few researchers focus on demonstrating real-time changes. WUT researchers have decided to undertake the task.
Simultaneous measurement of breath, heart rate and physical activity
Published: 31/05/2022
At the Faculty of Mechatronics at the WUT, a Pneumonitor was created, which allows to monitor the frequency and depth of breathing and also to associate these with the variability of the heart rhythm or the physical activity of the examined person. This is the first such "mobile" solution designed for long-term observation.
New therapy for brain cancer and elimination of side effects of chemo- and radiotherapy
Published: 04/05/2022
Glioblastoma multiforme is one of the most invasive forms of primary brain cancers, and the average lifespan of the patient from the moment of diagnosis is about 12 months. A team of researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology, Polish Academy of Sciences, and Warsaw University is working on solutions which are to increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy and improve the comfort of living of a cancer patient.
Organosilicon aerogels in plant biotechnology and bioprocessing engineering
Published: 04/05/2022
A group of collaborating researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology and Warsaw Medical University is working on devising a platform intensifying biotechnological processes in plant biomass grown in in vitro cultures, as part of the research grant BIOTECHMED-2.
A fresh look at the role of probiotic yeast in treatment
Published: 01/04/2022
Specialists from the Faculty of Chemistry at WUT and the Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies (CEZAMAT) are researching probiotic yeast to see if it can be reprogrammed so that its extracellular vesicles can become an enteral drug carrier.
Researchers at WUT create solutions for cardiology
Published: 26/01/2022
There are plenty of scientists willing to carry out cardiology-related research at the Warsaw University of Technology. The results may save patients’ lives.
Work in progress on a modular hand prosthesis at WUT
Published: 22/11/2021
Each year, around 185 thousand people worldwide undergo amputation. It is estimated that this number will double by 2050. A team from the Warsaw University of Technology is working on a universal and cheap hand prosthesis, the elements of which would be replaceable and could "grow" with the user.
WUT scientists conduct research that may help in melanoma treatment
Published: 29/10/2021
With a growing number of people suffering from melanoma, scientists worldwide are researching an effective therapy to prevent drug resistance among patients. A team of researchers from the Warsaw University of Technology is also a part of this group.
