Professor Krzysztof Szczypiorski in the NASK Scientific Council
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalisation Krzysztof Gawkowski appointed new members of the NASK Scientific Council. Professor Krzysztof Szczypiorski is among the experts who have joined the Council from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at the University of Warsaw (WEiTI). Professor Szczypiorski is head and co-founder of the Division of Cybersecurity at the Institute of Telecommunications at WEiTI, co-founder and head of the POB Research Centre for Cybersecurity and Data Science at WUT, as well as head of the MBA Cybersecurity Management postgraduate programme at the WUT Business School.
His research interests include new methods of observing phenomena, especially in ICT networks, medicine, and the stock market, new algorithms in cyber security in the areas of network steganography and steganalysis, anomaly detection and fraud management, cybercrime discovery through digital forensics or the development of advanced information intelligence systems.
He holds the academic title of professor of engineering sciences in the discipline of technical informatics and telecommunications (2024). In 2013 he completed postgraduate studies in motivational psychology at the Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities, and in 2022 he completed a postgraduate Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Warsaw University of Technology Business School. In 2003, he received training in advanced networking techniques at the Budapest Technical Institute in Hungary. He is also a graduate of the Hass School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, USA (2013).
For more than 25 years, he has worked as an independent consultant in the field of network security, telecommunications, and IT for, among others: the National Security Office, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Office of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Ministry of Finance, Oracle, Orange, Polkomtel, Polish Energy Group, PwC, T-Mobile, and Xerox.
He is the creator and head of the International Telecommunication Union Internet Training Centre (ITU-ITC) established in 2003, as well as co-founder and R&D director of the cyber security company Cryptomage S.A. (2015-2023). He is a council member of the Secure Cyberspace Foundation, a senior member of the following organisations: the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and the ASR (Asia Society for Research), and a member of the Committee on Electronics and Telecommunications of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).
Professor Marek Cygan (University of Warsaw) and Ewa Flaszyńska, PhD, were appointed together with Professor Krzysztof Szczypiorski.
